શબ્દ-નિર્વાણ

રાત્રે

પુસ્તકમાંથી થોડાં પંખી ઊડ્યાં

મકાનની અગાસી પર બેઠાં

એમાનું એક બારીમાંથી

ઘરમાં પ્રવેશ્યું

ને મારા બળતા નાઇટલેમ્પ પર

આવી બેઠું

ઘરનો  ફ્યુઝ ઊડી ગયો

હું ગુમાયો છું એવી

જાહેરખબર મેં સવારે

છાપામાં વાંચી

દસ પૈસાના ચણા ફાકતો

ઘેર આવ્યો

બારણામાં જ મને મળી ગયો

પણ આડું જોઈ ઘરમાં ગયો

ટેબલ પરના પુસ્તકને ઊઘાડ્યું

તો મરેલાં પંખીઓ

ચારે બાજુ ઢગલો થઈ

પડ્યાં

મને લોહીની ઊલટી થઈ

Word-nirvana

At night

A few birds flew out from the book

And landed on a terrace

One of them entered through the window

OF my house

And sat on my night lamp

The houses fuse blew out.

In the morning paper

I saw an ad about

Me, being lost,

I came home

Munching ten paisa worth of chickpeas.

I met myself in the doorway

But avoiding I went in the house

I opened the book that was on the table

And all around fell

The dead birds.

I vomited blood.
